We recently discovered this album from Abu Ama via a Bandcamp Daily feature on theimpact of digi-dub (worth seeking out releases by Androo, and LAPS which we also discovered in the article). Following releases on NY based darkwave collective Hexx 9 the West German-based artist landed on Bristol label Bokeh Versions. The album called Arabxo Ishara came about came as a result of Ama sending over 500 tracks to Bokeh Edwards with a simple request: “Pick one.” Featuring an array of dubwise tales of Turkish traditional song, sufi ghosts, Syrian locked grooves and Indonesian field recordings. Snatches of UK pub talk strung together with rumbles of sub add to the disorientating lack of place – you need to hear this record. Turn the volume button up and freak out like no one’s watching!
