Akiko Yano’s 1981 LP Tadaima set for vinyl reissue

Manyshadesofmusic - Akiko YanoWewantsounds are set to reissue of Akiko Yano‘s Tadaima on vinyl for the first time outside Japan this November.

The Japanese vocalist, producer and composer is a legend in Japan. Originally released in 1981 the synth-pop masterpiece ‘Tadaima’ (“I’m home” in Japanese), was co-produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto and features Yellow Magic Orchestra musicians: Haruomi Hosono, Yukihiro Takahashi and Sakamoto.

The oddball album finds Yano delving into the synth sounds of the early ’80s. We’re told by the label that the album is “The result is a fascinating electro pop masterpiece showcasing her talent as a writer, musician and singer, creating her own unique universe.”

The reissue includes original artwork by cult illustrator King Terry, a 2-page insert and OBI Strip (LP) plus a new introduction by renowned DJ and producer Joakim.
